I’m so excited! I had what I now know to be my last monitoring appointment this morning and the nurse just called me with instructions and informed me that we are triggering tonight! They had me take one last Follistim dose (just 150 IU for this one) immediately, which I’ve already done. So now I’m done with Follistim, low-dose HCG and Ganirelix for this cycle! Just when I was getting really good at them… 😉
Trigger is 10,000 IU of full-dose HCG subcutaneously tonight at 9pm exactly. That means egg retrieval is at 8am on Wednesday. It’s all really happening now!
Here’s an updated look at my follicle count/sizes:
Left Ovary: 15, 14, 14, 12, 11, 11, 11, 11, 10. Total of 9 on the left side.
Right Ovary: 17, 15, 15, 15, 15, 15, 14, 13, 13, 13, 12, 12, 12, 12, 12, 11, 11, 11, 10, 10, 10, 9, 9, 9. Total of 24 on the right side.
That’s a total of 33 measurable follicles as of this morning. We’re certainly not expecting to get eggs from each of those, but the nurses and ultrasound techs are all saying we’re in a good place heading into retrieval. Actually, the ultrasound tech told me this morning that my ovaries look beautiful, so that made me feel good. It just seems like my follicles are smaller than I’ve read for most other people on trigger day. I have total faith in my RE and this clinic has one of the top success rates in the country, so I’m trying not to stress about it and I’m putting my faith in them on this one.
I probably won’t update until the day after the retrieval (or maybe a quick note the evening of retrieval day if I’m feeling up to it). Here we go – it’s game time!
